3 Ways to Successfully Begin your Virtual or Homeschool Year

1. Pay attention to virtual classroom rules

a. Get help – ask you your teachers

b. Teachers will have a normal set of rules

c. Know the appropriate time to contact your teachers

d. If you can’t make it to class because wi-fi goes out, or appointment or something – let the teachers know and watch recorded lessons

Homeschool:

a. Have rules and post them

b. Set expectations for the day/time period

2. Classroom etiquette

a. DO NOT SPAM – in chat

b. Use the raise hand button – ONCE

c. Depending on Program – don’t take control, only on mic with questions that pertain to lesson

d. If you are on camera – make sure you are properly dressed and background is appropriate

e. For homeschool and virtual– set rules for the space when you are doing school, just like a classroom would have. This will help set the basic idea of what should happen in a group setting. Remember the rules that you posted? Refer your kiddos back to the rules so that they remember. It will take a bit for them to transition and treat everything super seriously, but they will get it.

a. Set up designated spot – use some painter’s tape to section of the “school” area

b. Free of distractions

c. Headphones are necessary

d. Try blue screen glasses if need be.
